Bruer & Wooddell
Representing individuals and families who have been injured.
Our firm’s philosophy. When individuals or their loved ones are catastrophically injured, their first concern is that justice should be served. They want to ensure that the same type of tragedy does not happen to others. At the same time, financial compensation is, typically, the only remedy available in our justice system, and to be sure, is a necessary and appropriate means of enabling those who are injured to put their lives back together. So, we hope to accomplish two goals in representing injured people: first, we want to help our clients obtain a fair and reasonable monetary recovery so that they are able to resume productive and satisfying lives; and second, we want to use the litigation process to motivate care providers, manufacturers, and others to improve their practices, be more concerned about the people they serve, and be more attentive to safety.
Our firm’s history. Bob Bruer began practicing law in Springfield in 1971 and, by the 1980s, had evolved to practice nearly exclusively in the personal injury field. John Wooddell began practicing in 1979 and has, from the beginning, limited his practice to that field. In the late 1980s they joined forces as Bruer & Wooddell, and the firm has grown from that point. The addition of Rob Bruer (practicing since 1995) and Adam Graves (practicing since 2003) has enhanced the firm’s commitment to providing quality legal services and has strengthened the firm’s presence in Kansas City. Throughout our years, we trust that our work has not only served our clients, but has also contributed toward more conscientious medicine and safer products.
Our firm’s role. We handle cases involving complex medical and legal issues that require an understanding and development of scientific, medical, and engineering evidence, including medical malpractice cases, vehicular accidents, and accidents resulting from unsafe products. Our attorneys are committed to investing the time and effort necessary to understand the details of these complex cases, and we pride ourselves in maintaining good contacts with many experts knowledgeable in the fields in which we practice.
It is our intent to limit the number of cases we take, with the goal of spending all the time necessary on those cases we do accept. We believe that the client’s rights can be fully protected and the appropriate results achieved only with this kind of attention.
We believe that our years of experience in the personal injury field and our commitment to handling complex cases will serve you well and deliver the best possible results under the difficult circumstances in which these cases arise.
We welcome your call, to either of our offices. We will discuss your case with you, and if appropriate, arrange a conference in the office.
